Summing up my past traumas with therapist soon, don't know where to start (maybe tw somewhere along the way)

So, I've been in group therapy for the past 6 months, and in small ways it's helping, but it feels like a band aid where stitches are needed.

I expressed this to my therapist and that I feel like I need to work on my past traumas in some way. So In a little over a week we're gonna make a start by basically listing them all. But a lot has happened so long ago and over long periods that it's very had to get everything straight and to know where memories end and I'm just filling in the blanks.

Does anyone have any advice on how to approach this?

@Madaraismyspiritanimal This was suggested to me and has been helpful where I struggle to communicate: just start talking, whatever you remember. Start from anywhere and it will surely lead to things you may not even remember. If you want to write it all out and then organize it before therapy, notes are always helpful ^-^

@ZeppelinsOverhead

That makes sense, only problem is that I have a hard time identifying gaps in my memory, I feel like I have a strong tendency to fill these with the worst expectations, knowing what the worst is those people have done to me or others in other situations.

I really don't want to end up lying or exaggerating 😟

@Madaraismyspiritanimal That's totally understandable. It might be a good idea to tell her what you remember and be honest about what you don't. Maybe she can help you figure it out? Wishing you the best from over here <3
