I suppose I should say that having an outlet such as writing it out or finding positive ways to deal with those emotions would be the best answer. I tried and still sometimes try (maybe not hard enough) to journal or talk about it with my therapist. Truth be told, I probably avoid talking to her about what I really need to more often than anything. For the most part, I push it to the side until it piles up and comes out in anger or sadness or both. I know that this doesnt work but confronting it is so difficult though now Im trying to push myself to not avoid it anymore....
@Bri0114
I agree with you because I do the same thing. I make small talk but I think mine is trust issues and Avoidance. They don't help us to get the help we need but I don't know how to change that.
@scarletPear1945 My best advice would be to explain that to your therapist, that youre having a hard time opening up. I have and my therapist lets me take baby steps.
@Bri0114
I canceled my therapist and blocked her. I feel really bad about it but she breached my trust and I am just not doing that again.
Thanks though I hope your therapy goes well
@scarletPear1945 Im really sorry to hear that. I really hope what you were initially going to therapy for resolves :)
@Bri0114
thanks doing self-care

It sounds like you are making a concerted effort, in order to cope after traumatic events. Writing is a therapeutic outlet for many, as venting about experiences allows one to feel better, and also enables them to clarify their feelings and emotions after negative incidents. I hope that in your counselling sessions, you can gradually open up about past experiences (I realize that this may be uncomfortable for you), and perhaps slowly, or at your own pace. Good luck.
Embrace the negative feelings makes for a smoother recovery/ healing path
@MayaCarino
Embracing negative feelings, and emotions, and allowing yourself to feel them, instead of suppressing them, sounds like a viable option for coping.
Hello guys! I am a 4th year BS Psychology major, and as a student I also experience events in my life that I can't bear and at some point, it is now affecting my studies, funny to know that I'm a Psychology Major but I don't know what to do with what I'm having right now. For now, me and my friend who had also experience a very traumatic event are conducting our thesis about Coping Strategies of those who are diagnose with PTSD. I would like to share from you guys our ways and ask from you what are you strategies to cope up with your daily living? So that we wpuld be able to promote a Health Promotion Campaign to all of us;)
We promise that we will take this as an oppurtunity to help each one of us :) Thank you and God Bless guys! 😘😘
