This is a question posed to the participants in this trauma forum, who have specifically been impacted by traumatic events in their lives.

What are your biggest challenges in moving forward, and recovering from traumatic events?

Do you have any issues which appear to be of particular difficulty regarding moving on from what you have went through? How have you tried coping? Has anything been successful for you?

This is a discussion topic, in order to discuss what challenges people are trying to work through, in moving past their traumatic incidents.

Please feel free to share your responses, and I encourage others to respond, and to offer their assistance, in this post.

@Jennilyn For me it's definitely dating. Probably because I've had a crush on the guy who later tried to bully me to death. Of course, I only had a crush on him BEFORE the bullying started.

I don't really cope with it at all. I just stay single and Bury any feelings for any man that are anything more than just friendship. I don't know, dating just freaks me out. I don't think I'll ever be in any relationship. I would not be able to trust my partner enough. Every time someone shows interest in me I start loosing my stability, so I just shrug it off and hope that they loose interest if I just stay away from them. I know, that this behavior hurts a lot of people. I don't want this. But I don't want to hurt either.

I've been thinking about getting children a lot lately and how this is going to work out. I will probably get them artificially one day. I don't think I'll be able to form a normal family. But that's okay for me, really. I have an amazing family already. I know I can count on them: My mom, my dad and my siblings. They are all I need. And I also do have some near friends, who are definitely going to support me.

I have a huge problem with getting into relationships as well, I dont mind when people like me but when they do, I make it so clear that I don't care about dating and that I don't get the point, the thought of myself dating makes me uncomfortable, I can't even pretend to date. Im actually pretty scared to get into a relationship, and sometimes i can barely trust my friends. I'm only 14 and I'm thinking that soon, I won't have a husband/ wife and wont have children and when my parents see this, they will be disappointed in me. I don't know why I'm thinking about this right now, being so young but it is something that worries me. I don't really know alot about having a relationship but I guess the advice that I can give u is if u find that u may like someone or someone may like you, try not to avoid them, you may find that you can get in a nice and trustworthy relationship and that they make you happy and if they show any signs of harrassment, leave them right away, you don't deserve to be sick with someone terrible. Im sure soon, u will find someone to make each other smile❤

Like some other people here I've never much spoken about what happened. Its silly but it was traumatic for me. My 'best friends dad was a pedophile towards m'e for 3 years and my so called 'bestie' encouraged him and watched. She then went on to tell her mum I was the one making advances on him and has gotten me harrased for the past year by her constant texts calls and threats.

My biggest issue from this has been doubt. Doubt in myself and my strength to helo myself. Doubt in who I can trust. Doubt in my safety in my own home because that entire family know where I live. And the most crippling doubt of all: the doubt of my worth.

As for dealing with it I've not really done anything apart from lock myself away in my room with my curtains closed and I've pushed it all deep inside. Its the way I deal with everything despite how unhealthy it is. Ive feared for my safety to the point where I have a Ring doorbell so I dont have to leave my room to answer the door and so I can see whos outside without opening the curtains.
