sexual abuse.
I am nearly 18 and I am a girl. I am more of an introvert. I dont like all the unnecessary dramas of people. When I was about 9 years old, i underwent sexual abuse from a family member. he was actually a cousin. he used to come home and ask me to touch him. one day he tried anal sex with me. however he could not continue as I remember being awfully hurt. he pacified me and I said nothing to anyone. at 12 he died in a car accident. my adolescence was okay. this never bothered me till last year I watched a film where the woman was raped. since then i just start crying and shouting. today has been the third time. i cant tell anyone bc i dont knw if they will believe me. all of them are still like pained that he died such a tragic death except me ofC. i would really like to stop getting these whenver i watch someone being raped on. at times I feel dirty but I know that even 1000 baths won't remedy to my problems. please :)
I can understand what you're going thru. I had been assaulted when I was 14 by someone at school. I thought he was a friend. I find when things get bad, playing with playdoh or a stress ball works. Also reminding myself where I am. Is there any trusted adult that you can talk too?? The listeners here are pretty good. If you browse and look specifically for one that helps with traumatic events. Xoxo
I agree withmistpete75, if you seek a listener who specializes in traumatic events, you mayfind a very helpful and kind ear, although it will not be a therapy. You can PM me if you wish to but I am aware that by being a male I might not fit you. Also, for now I am a listener only for adults, not teens, even if that may change later.
I know how you feel it happened to me when I was 6 and I'm 4 months away from my 18th birthday it was my father who did it to me and now a bunch of guys do it to me
it still happens to me till this day. I have nobody to talk to
Do you want someone who'll listen to you and not judge you , but just try and give you support and help you xx
There are a couple of things it is hard. One thing you could do is avoid triggers. Since it is a movie then maybe you need to avoid looking at the news and watching certain movies. It helps to go to a new location where nothing reminds you of it. Or change the way you do things and where you go so that your life doesn't feel the same - thus avoiding triggers. Ie. I used to go this supermarket when I knew my cousin-so don't go there anymore. This seems like avoiding though. I heard that EMDR therapy might help. Sometimes it never goes away-the memory. Going back to the original feelings, inner child work, and truly realizing it wasn't your fault, and to heal it-meaning that your brain responds in the present rather than in the past. It is a long road for some. Some get stuck in it. Try not to lose your life with the memories. I know that sounds harsh but before you realize it you will be 50 years old remembering the same incident that happened when you were 12.I still don't know how to deal with it. It hurts..
Here is another solution a more spiritual approach. That everything happens for a reason and we usually choose our experiences before we come to this planet. I know that is very hard to accept. After many years I realized that I went through some of my sexualabuse because in a previous life I had ruined a marriage and I had witheld love from someone. It was particularly significant because we were soulmates and we were also homosexuals. It was not accepted in that time and we were so repressed that we couldn't even realize what we really wanted. Both of us got married to men....
Well, I'm going to respectfully disagree with this last post. I don't quite know what was meant by "past life", so I won't address that at all. I do, however, want to address the statement: "everything happens for a reason".
I think it's necessary to distinguish between "reason" and "justification", concepts which too often get blurred whenever this phrase is repeated. On a purely philosophical, analytical level, yes, I'm certain there is an explanation - a set of circumstances - for every event that occurs, even if we don't happen to know what that explanation is.
That's a far cry, however, from justification. That's the fine line often overlooked in legal proceedings where the defense will try to convince a jury that if they can understand how a defendant can commit a crime, even a violent, horrific crime. then they must acquit because - according to that line of reasoning - to understand is to accept, if not justify
No, it isn't.
Research may one day explain all there is to know about fatal diseases in people, but that understanding doesn't preclude taking necessary steps to eradicate those diseases. We may one day understand all there is to know about violent crime, but that understanding in no way impinges on our right, nay, our obligation to condemn it and to rally against it.
My second post was afar cry from justification. No matter the reason sexual assault is a crime.Whathappened to me may not have anything to do with anyone else. I wanted to share my personal experience.
It feels really great to be able to have support like this! I was abused by my father from 9 Years old to 16 and am now almost 18. Thankfully I have a very supportive best friend and I love her so much she means everything to me!!!
It's okay to feel like people won't understand you. I told my brother and he did not believe me. It's important to find people that love you though and understand you! Adn then you can start to heal with their help.
Hello, my name is Hanna. I was sexually abused for five years by my brother. I am struggling every single day to break free front the flashbacks, panic attacks, nightmares, and last but it's hard. I'm here to talk to and also seek guidance. I'm 17, Christian.
I can totally understand the sensation of feeling dirty no matter what. I wish I couldsay something to help you, but you're not alone at least.

I have been dealing with PTSD for years and have only recently accepted that I had/have it. I don't know what to do.
I was molested by my older brother when I was younger for many years. When I finally gathered the courage to tell my parents I was in middle school. I don't know when it started because my memory is crap/I blacked a lot out. I was in therapy for a little while, but not long. I was discouraged from talking about it. I was told that people would judge me. I still have to see him at holidays and family functions.
I have flashbacks.
The first time a boyfriend kissed me I had a panic attack. Same with every "base" a boyfriend got to.
I get sick randomly when something triggers a memory or feeling.
I feel like I lose control of my body.
I disassociate.
I avoid functions and people who I like if I know there's a chance of me seeing him.
I'm on high alert at all times and the slightest move or sound with startle me.
I'm nearly 23
Most of my family still doesn't know. Just my parents and an aunt.
Family (including the few that know) talk about him to me and around me
I don't know what to do.
