Breaking free from ptsd
For those who are struggling really badly with Ptsd right now, I just want to give you hope that it really can better.
When I think back about how far that I've come,it seems so unreal.
I spent years in a constant state of discomfort and periods where I would get constant flashbacks to a point where my body hurt constantly and I was always so tired but couldn't sleep. Always on edge, always paranoid. Getting caught in flashbacks and finding it hard to come back to reality. Disassociating several times a day and having frequent nemory blackouts. Constant nightmares and little or no sleep most nights.
My life was in definite danger at times.
Then I made a decision to go travelling and it was the best decision I ever made. Staying in hostels picking up casual jobs along the way to fund my journey-it's been tough but so rewarding.
Travelling forced me to give my trust to people again. The thoughts of sleeping in rooms with strangers was terrifying but it was the best cure for me. It was like a form of exposure therapy.
It's been tough along the way but this adventure has given me a new lease of life. One where I can see a future where my ptsd won't always be a struggle.
At the moment I have very few symptoms of the ptsd that used to rule my life and for the first time in my life I'm pretty proud of myself.
Facing yours fears is so incredibly difficult but so worth and retraining how your brain reacts to situations is a daunting thought but 100 percent possible.

I love your story. You inspire me <3
@indigochildwithcherries You have been very honest with how your journey in dealing with PTSD has at times been a struggle, but one that has now made you the person you are today. It is a long hard struggle sometimes to overcome issues like this but one that also helps you develop as a person, creating self awareness, self esteem, self confidence and one that ultimately gives you hope and a life that you are living, rather than one where its more about existing and coping with the daily challenges that PTSD can create. Be proud of how far you have come :)
