Feeling misunderstood
Hi lately I have been doing a bit better and have been able to hold a job the last year but now that I'm not been back to the psych ward my close friends and family have been dismissive of my bad days or my triggers. They say things like don't take things so personality and you'll be fine even though customers at work yell at you for no reason and yelling is triggering to me and they think I can just get over it or it's not a big deal but it is to me. I feel like I'm at my breaking point 😣 I can't even mask feeling ok anymore it's too exhausting. Just feeling misunderstood and ignored

Hey there ❤️ I'm really sorry to hear that your close friends and family members don't take your triggers and emotions seriously. They are completely valid, and it's common to continue to be affected by them even after you've gotten well enough to hold a job. Getting yelled at can be really scary and traumatic on its own, especially when it comes without warning or reason.
It sounds like you've been trying to hold it together because of the things they say but it's really hurting you inside. It's okay to let go and to give yourself a break. If you can, you could take a day off to rest from work ❤️ Your wellbeing and emotional health matter ❤️
When you're feeling better, and you feel that it would help, you could also talk to the people around you about how your triggers affect you and how bad it really is. Most people have never been through the things you have, so they truly have no idea what you're going through ❤️ You could use tools like an emotional scale (eg. on a scale from 1 to 10, how scared/sad/anxious do I feel when...), or analogies (eg. it's like being the only person who can see this specific scary monster, and even if the monster itself isn't real to you, it's real to me) to help them understand. Of course, it's not your responsibility to teach them how to best support you, and your needs come first. Give yourself a breather, and the rest can come later ❤️
Thank you for sharing this with us because it helps the people here who are going through something similar feel less alone ❤️ I hope you'll have a restful day
Thank you for your response! I was starting to think I was imagining it all. I took some time off like 2 1/5 days. My therapist tells me to use my sick time all the time but I'm always worried about leaving other coworkers w out help. 😔 I've tried talking to them an explaining to the but I will keep trying. They don't get it because they have never experienced it before and I'm so glad they haven't. But I also feel like I need people to understand what I'm dealing w. Thanks for validating me it's helped some I'm so thankful to have found this app 💕
