Hello! Tw - domestic violence, ptsd
Hi everyone, thank you for being part of the community that we never wanted to be a part of. I’m a domestic violence survivor. Recently, I was in a situation that involved my abuser that really triggered my anxiety and intrusive thoughts. I started to withdraw and became skeptical and critical of everyone around me. I’ve been speaking about my anxiety and trying to remember all the steps for healing and working through the trauma but it was hard while I was triggered. I’m starting to come out of it now and I feel so much better. I’m hoping now that the situation is over, I can really embrace the healing that needs to happen. I know it will get better and I can forgive and be forgiven through my journey. I’m feeling very grateful and positive. I want to hang on to the feeling but I’m also trying to allow myself to feel things less extreme as they come. Has anyone else experienced this?

I have and still am. Whereas i used to block my emotions that were painful, I have been learning how to allow myself to feel and proccess what I can. I realized it was something I have to do because I was only making myself worse by blocking everything. It has been hard to experience these things and can leave me not feeling completely stable for days... but I have been able to use some self care techniques to help through that time. Mindfulness techniques, pregressive relaxation for the anxiety and positive affirmations seem to help me.
I wish you the best through it all... and want encourage you to allow youself to take best care of you that you can through your journey.
