Is my trauma legit?
I’ve been suffering from long covid for two years now (I was in China in November of 2019 and contracted it there), and I feel seriously traumatized by the entire experience. I’m completely debilitated, most days I can’t get out of bed, and I’m young (I got covid when I was 25, I’m 27 now). I’ve seen so many doctors with no improvement, and I find it extremely hard not to dissociate during doctor’s appointments because I feel so… I don’t even know how to describe the emotion. But every time I try to research medical trauma, it’s all about having a traumatic experience in hospital or receiving a terminal diagnosis. That doesn’t fit my experience so I think “is my trauma even real?” I know my feelings are real, but then I think “well you weren’t hospitalized or intubated so you can’t be traumatized.” Can someone please help me?

Your trauma is valid. Your struggles are valid. I struggle with those feelings too sometimes. It is actually a very common trauma response to deny or question the validity of trauma. Just because some people "may have it worse" doesn't mean that your struggles are in any way wrong or bad.
