My Car Accident Experience
I am 19 years old and I just recently experienced my first car accident. I received a facial fracture, skull fracture, broken finger, severe concussion, a laceration to the head and 2 black eyes. It was on a bridge and I almost went off into the water. The bridge is on the way to my boyfriends house and the first time I drove over it after the accident I couldnt breathe, heart started racing and I was crying. Ever since then I drive the long way around. I cant sleep at night and I have awful nightmares about it. Even thinking of talking about it makes me sick. I also get nervous every time someone I care about gets in a vehicle because Im scared Im going to lose them. I dont know how to cope with this.

Trauma therapy, if you still have the symptoms after 3 months or so.

Hi! I've been in a similar position you were. I was on an elevated interstate with mine. I also had a severe concussion. Whenever I get near an interstate, I panic. I worry if it's going to happen again. Do you have something in particular that calms you down? For example, I'll listen to my favorite song and pay attention to every single little detail in the song. It takes my mind off of what my brain thinks will happen.
I'd also recommend going to therapy or starting medication. If you feel on edge and feel a flashback coming on, tell someone that you're riding with. I've found that talking through it helps. If you need someone to talk to, I'm here.
