Resurfacing trauma

Hello everyone. I feel like I am at loss again. You see i was raped when i was younger, for about 5-6 years and had to live with that person until i finally had enough at the age of 16 and reported him. I’ve gone to therapy for years but was kicked out because they said « there is nothing we can do for you» while I’ve later found out they were only changing the staff so that they had to Get less Patients and kick out the older ones (which was me). But that’s beside the point. I’ve been doing better for some years, but recently I’ve found out the man who raped me has as well raped my little sister which is making the trauma reappear all again. I can’t tell anyone on that side of the family because that is my sisters choice, and the ones I have talked to about it has said it needs to come from her or “everybody will think you are lying “again” since they didn’t believe you the first time”. So i am now currently trying to cope with life, but I’ve been drowning myself in work, school and sleep while my friends and boyfriend on the outside are trying to reach in while im hiding my true feelings. I’m working on getting a new physiatrist but they are so expensive here where I live, so I think will try this out for a while. Thank you for reading<3

I'm so sorry to hear that you experienced a sexual assault, then had to live with the perpetrator for some time. You should be so incredibly proud that you managed to gain the courage to report them for what happened to you, it's really commendable and you did the right thing.

It's saddening to see that you've not had the best mental health support on top of all of this. It definitely seems though that professional support would be the best thing for you right now. There are other options available online here and on other websites where you can get therapy a little bit cheaper than maybe what your psychiatrist is charging. 👍

I agree mental health support is a joke at most places. This is why places like 7cups thrive. Have you found any good listeners? Have you considered using paid therapists here?
