I suffered with ptsd for almost 10 years and a lot of therapy. Years and years of therapy.

My partner who I've been acquainted with a few months ago, I have got to understand that she is been suffering too and its been 3 years this December.

I don't know what to do to help and what to do to support?

Tanveer, I know all about PTSD. I have suffered for almost 55 years. My PTSD occurred in the year 1967 when I was nine. It has followed me all through my life. However, I have discovered that therapy, guided meditations, and quieting my body have offered me some relief. It is not an easy row to hoe. But with the right therapy, right attitude, and positive outlook, you, too can overcome your PTSD. As far as your girlfriend is concerned; you do not provide enough information as to why she also suffers PTSD. I hope I have given you some hope for your future. Sending you sunbeams and bright moonbeams. ✨🌞🌛

I have pretty much healed from PTSD after many years as yourself in fact treatment program wit Ann excellent staff who gave me great positive support along with my late husband an a relative. I’ve been excellent but early this year someone did somethin’ and for awhile I did great trying to handle it by recalling everything I learned in program and’ I tried letting ‘da person know we had to chat. I could see where her behavior towards me was heading. Till one day she kept provoking me. I ended up walking out which a witness to ‘there entire thing he told her it wasn’t necessary to do what she did. She didn’t want to give up but he felt I did right by walking out. I had to I needed to get my thoughts together. Tho I returned to her home I decided there we would no longer be on speaking terms. Even a 30 minute trigger was too much to bare. Luckily I got my thoughts together an was able to move on. I think it’s important we know da sign’s when someone is purposely trying to trigger us.

I understand your suffering with PTSD. I also have this injury. It's an injury not a mental condition. This helps me see that I'm not broken I'm injured. My childhood abuse was severe and I ran through my life with fear leading me. After a second severe trauma as an adult I completely went off the deep end. Now I have Complex PTSD. In the more recent years I started therapy and I recommend the sooner the better. I am so upset that I didn't get help sooner. My life would have been alot better and alot less alone feeling. I realize now that I needed to wake up to my fear, past abuse and my denial. I think I just was not ready to deal with all the horrors of my past. I'm stronger now, I still have major depression and anxiety but I'm working on it in therapy. I just know that a person has to realize that " hey I need help or I'm not going to succeed in this life"...I don't think anyone could have broken through my severe state of denial. Unfortunately the guy that r#ped me was my push over the dark edge that brought in the light through my broken heart ..my abusive childhood took decades off the life I should have lived so I'm trying to find real connection and be peaceful in these later years I'm in. Best to you and your partner. ABB💜

it sounds like you have spent a great deal of time working on healing your own PTSD and how your don’t know how to best support your partner is that correct?

My first question would be tell me about her ptsd and how it’s similar and different from yours. Learning the similarities/differences might help you identify the best ways to best support you. Feel free to message me if you want to work through ways on how to best support her ! Sending hugs your way!
