Trigger Warning
Is it normal to suffer from depression and CPTSD as an adult from suffering from physical and sexual abuse as a child? It seems the older I get the more what happened to me in my past haunts me. I am not functioning well—don’t want to get out of bed…it’s been 2 days since I’ve showered because ever since this depression took hold I hate showering. I don’t know how to climb out of this depression, and I wonder if I am just a weak person?
I bet it took some strength to write this post.
I’ve been there. Times when I thought I was doing well wouldn’t always last, and eventually came crashing down and pulled me into a depression. What helped me was something that forced me to regularly get out of bed (job & dog). Also, finding support and someone that can help you when you need a hand out of the ditch.
I've been in that dark pit of CPtsd and depression. Very scary place to be. I had to get help to pull myself up or I wasn't going to make it. Therapy and my sister saved me. It's taking many years to sift through all of my severe childhood abuse. I'm still sifting. Took me many decades to acknowledge my past, I hit a point that sent me to the pit due to some new traumatic events.
Your very brave to post here I know how hard that can be. Your in a good place, 7 cups has many people who care and understand. Many times when I couldn't get out of bed - 7cups was the only place that was there anytime of the day or night for me. Your not alone. Hopefully my post helps , one minute at a time.
