Hi, my name is Tayy and I'm a 30 yo female. I have been in a spiral for the past year or so. I grew up in a very abusive household and I thought I was able to push everything down. I thought I had accepted my past and was able to keep everything in the past. My therapist said that trauma tends to poke it's head out with age. Our brains get tired of acting like things didn't happen. I am feeling hopeless, like healing is impossible for me. I'm not sure if I need someone who relates to me or if I need tools that might help. I was wondering if anyone has found anything that helps them. I cope with self-harm but here lately that hasn't been helping. I have no family or friends to turn to. It sounds bad but I made it that way. I got tired of being hurt by people. I do have my fiancé but even she doesn't know a lot of my trauma, just the basics. I would greatly appreciate any advice.

@Tayy2295 I took it day by day, found a routine that worked for me and tried to find something that gave me joy and purpose.

I was journalling a lot, it helped and it didn't. It just felt like the same thing over and over, until I transitioned online and then a lot of it felt really released.

I hope you'll find something that works for you too :)

@ScrabbleBrain Thank you, I really appreciate it. My therapist gave me a list of healthy coping skills to use but all of them feel more like a task. I'm at a point where nothing is fun to me and joy feels foreign. Everything about me is a long story and I think that's why healing is difficult for me. I also have a hard time opening up to people. Just this past year is when I decided to seek help. I know that I'm in a spiral and that's why I have gotten a therapist and trying to connect with others who might understand.

@Tayy2295 It just might take time and at least with forums, it might get a lil bit easier. Only ever share what you're comfortable with and if you do it with the basics, the rest will eventually follow.

Just try your best and that in itself is good enough :)

Sorry Ps, have you tried the fun and games, Icebreaker section? Simple questions that anyone can join into.

Possibly a good place to start? :)

@ScrabbleBrain No, I haven't looked that that yet. I might give it a go when I get off of work.

@Tayy2295 Cool, I found it helpful to get me in the mood to be more sociable and it wasn't taxing, just a bit of fun :)
