What's it like having PTSD?
It feels like everytime I witnessed a certain event it keeps bothering me on the inside, so much so, it makes me feel guilt and shame. The events make me feel jumpy and super alert. What's it like having PTSD? I want to bring it up with my doctor to find out more information. I want answers!
@Brainhack249 I Googled: What's it like having PTSD? There are many places you can read about it. The first one I saw was: What Does PTSD Feel Like? A lot of it seems to match your description, so bringing it up with your doctor seems like a good idea.

ptsd is different for everyone for me it comes in things that are triggers and night time. It's frightening it's not like anxiety for me I truly believe it's happening again there are ways to cope
I keep replaying what I could of done early on to avoid the trauma. Keep imagining every day at the most interruptive times what I'd do to not only change it, avoid it, but what I'd say if given a chance In a safe space to the people who did it.
I want it to leave my head but it never does.
It's made me afraid of everything associated with the trauma. Even things that seem benign like ballet, Nutcrakers and certain names.
They all bring it back like a guy stab to the chest.
@Brainhack249 Hello, Brain. PTSD is just like a film, keeps rewinding and replaying that same scene over and over. Everyone's PTSD is different and there are so many types of PTSD that can come from many different events/incidents. It can be haunting and frightening for someone to go through by themselves, this is why there are so many resources and help for PTSD and trauma survivors. It's nothing to go through alone and support should always be there for someone suffering through PTSD, everyone's PTSD should be respected and never to be down-played as not a trauma.
I don't know what you have been through, but no matter what, we are here to support you and we are glad you are here to open up. Your mental health is just as important as anyone else and you are not alone with doubting yourself, it's okay to be terrified and it's okay to feel in doubt but just know that every trauma that has happened to someone is meaningful and should never be put away. I hope you can get the help and assistance you need, we all care about you and here to support you through the hardships of PTSD! Take care. ❤️
