I really struggle to find the words to talk about what happened to me when I was just a child.

when talking about the SA should I be telling the therapist everything? How much detail can you / should you go into to help heal from the trauma?

I struggled and hesitated a lot with my traumas too. My very first hospitalized attempt, to this day, only 2 people know of it. My then, family doctor, and a therapist I had. Of course, I fought through a lot of hesitation before I told them, and it was at least 5 years after it had happened. I think with your therapist, when you've built that trust and feel comfortable with them, do tell them what had happened. He/she is there to help you, so, it's almost crucial for you to reveal to them as much information about you as possible, of course, at your own comfort. It's also totally up to you how much you want to tell them. You can break it up in pieces if you can't say it all at once. In the end, you are making the effort to want to feel better, and a therapist can help you more, as long as you're not hiding anything from them. You have to show them the whole picture, so they will know how to help you~

Hey, I'm sorry to hear you had such a traumatic experience. It must not be easy to express the pain you feel, remembering the episode in detail. Know that you are doing the right thing by asking for help. But also know that you don't have to do anything that you don't feel like doing. It may take its time, but there is no rush. So, if you don't feel like telling all the details right now, that's fine.

Hi!

At first, tell them what comes to your mind but feels comfortable for you to tell. Don't force yourself to go through unbearable pain.

Therapy takes time. There will be plenty of time to tell what would be needed in order to heal. It can't be rushed. Be patient and trust the process.

The most painful memories have to be processed with extreme care, taking all the time needed for this.

Your therapist is a professional who abides by a strict code of confidentiality. So she/he can take it all, and at the same time you are safe telling anything.

You can send me a message from HERE if you wish to discuss it further.

I wish you all the best, and huge luck in your therapy!
