Forgiveness?
I was molested by my ex-step father from the age of 11-14, when I finally got the courage to speak up, my mom left him and I never saw him again, I spoke to detectives and police officers repeating the traumatic story over and over. They did an investigation but dismissed it due to lack of evidence. My molestor is now living happily with not a single consequence for what he did to me and my sister when we were young. I feel helpless and angry because I didnt get justice, he walked away Scott free. How do I cope with knowing theres nothing I can do and I just have to accept this abuse from my past?
@Undefined1991 i know this is hard and there is little that can be said that can consule you but forginess has been the biggest way for me to move on. I forgive those who did it. I accept it happened to me and I move towards loving and fixing myself. I try to not let the anger and negtivity get me and I think about how much I deserve as a person. Is justice one of those things I deserve? yes but sometimes justice is not presented infront of us. Sometimes justice is the hell that person will live privatly. So my best advice is try and forgive and move on. Work on yourself and fix the anger make it into love for yourself.

I am very sorry you experienced this. Forgiveness is a way for you to let go of resentment and to help you find peace. It is not for the person who harmed you or for anyone, except for you. Carrying around anger, pain, and other feelings of that nature is a burden on you. It affects both your mental and physical well being Letting go of resentment is difficult but it can be done. Acceptance is a part of that. Are you seeing a therapist? If you are not seeing a counselor, it is something to consider. They can guide you toward letting go and such. If you would like to talk about this, do not hesitate to message me. I wish you nothing but the best!.
