Is sexual assault considered domestic abuse?

The exact words used depend on the legal jurisdiction you are in, because there are often different laws for different kinds of abuse. So if you really want to know what words to use, you would have to ask a lawyer or other expert who is local to you and knows your local laws.

Here in England, it seems like the words "domestic abuse" apply when an abused person is aged 16 or over, and the words "childhood abuse" apply when an abused person is younger than that. But I am not a lawyer and I am only reporting what I read after a quick Google search.

I'm not a lawyer (just interested in law), but as far as I know it varies depending on where you're from. I think most countries have it - Scandinavian countries define sexual abuse as domestic violence, if done to a person in the perpetrator's household (child, adult, family or roommate). The U.S. recognizes it as domestic violence too, and as a federal crime.

I think the only countries who don't recognize sexual assault by a household partner, are the same countries who don't have fair laws against domestic abuse. These countries are mostly in the middle-east or Africa, but Russia and some Baltic countries don't have laws (that I remember).

Whether it is considered domestic violence is really determined by the country and their specific laws - but as far as I know, most European countries, and U.S. considers it to be so.
