Reporting SA

Though I never reported my SA to authorities, I do think it is helpful to do. I was so young that I didn't know I had the option to report.

It can be difficult for some, because you have to disclose what actually happened, repeatedly when it goes through the process of a trial. This alone can deter people from reporting.

I have had reporting SA to police. Well when you report things to the police they obviously need to get a recording of you for evidence on what exactly happened during the event. It seems like reporting SA doesn't make a difference. For some it does for some it doesn't. It really depends on the person. Most people usually stay silent and don't talk about the trauma they went through and never get their justice. But it is a hard topic to talk about. I guess most people feel like the authorities won't do anything or won't believe them. It is like having to relive it all over again. I would understand how this would make a person feel worse about reporting it and decided to stay silent. Although staying silent seems like the better option it's not. Your voice and opinion matter. The friend that was with me when this happened doesn't think I should report it, my mom doesn't think I should report it and then another female friend thinks I should just let it go even though I have evidence from a text message with him admitting to the butt smack. This is the problem because the majority of people who I talked to about this are telling me to not report it to the police.
