TW: grooming, r*pe, incest(?)
Okay I'm gonna keep this short but basically when I was 14 my best friend was my cousin, who was my same age. let's call her Anna. we volunteered at a coffee shop together, where we both started liking this 19 year old. let's call him John. John pitted me and Anna against each other, basically making us compete for his love and affection. He secretly r*ped both of us, while still making us compete. it didn't stop until I left the coffee shop nearly 3 years later. Anna married John on her 18th birthday, in the middle of the ongoing police investigation, since I'd filed against him. Nothing came of it, he got off scratch free. I found out today that she's pregnant. We're both 19 now. Idk how to process it at all, but I can't help but feel like if I'd stayed loyal to her, neither of us would have experienced this trauma, let alone her getting stuck with the monster.
@coffeecherry,. Good for you for escaping the groomer/rapist!! Not easy to do I can relate. Be so proud of yourself and being able to see what was really going on with this groomer. I think you should focus on yourself and your healing because what he put you through was traumatic. Your cousin is going to open her eyes eventually and find her way. It's difficult to help ppl unless they are on the same page so to speak. I wish you peace with all that you had to deal with. Best ABB 💜
This is so awful, I am so sorry that this man did that to the two of you and that the system failed to protect you and your cousin after you reported him. I am so glad you got away, it sounds like Anna still has a very strong trauma bond and that is heartbreaking to witness. The fault falls entirely on this monster, not on you or Anna. Confronting her about John will most likely be twisted by him to distance her from her supports. It's infuriating, but at the end of the day she will have to be the one to decide to leave. As much as it hurts, the best you can do is take care of yourself and focus on your healing, while making sure Anna knows she has support and love around her. That she has options no matter what.
