TW-haunted- power position used by a preditor

I can't tell anyone this but I know I can put it here in my safe place. I'm so devastated that my sexual assault perpetrator is in such a power/ educated/ professional position with lots of $$ that I know I cannot fight back. There's no way anyone would believe my experience as truth. As a victim of abuse this society focuses on what horrible acts were performed on the victim not on how to help the victim and get justice for what was done. So he is going about his life making lots of money and continuing to keep his profession, his business, his wife, kids, etc. without consequence. I however am haunted by what happened, all the things he did. I'm haunted by my lack of fight. I am haunted by my inability to take action. I am haunted by my guilt and shame. The trauma of what he did was so numbing and isolating I was frozen inside like a statue for months... I barely held on to my life let alone share with someone or go after him. To this day it makes me sick just contemplating telling. He knew I would be too devastated to tell....Society needs to create a safe place for victims to prosecute anonymously so to protect the victim ( also from re- traumatization) and the victims family. My perp was a master manipulator and knew exactly when to strike. He used his power in an evil way. Just writing this is so scary for me I have to stop here. Thx for being a safe place for me.....ABB

I'm glad to hear 7Cups is a safe space for you. You can open up here without fear of facing judgment. heart

Coming to the topic of your post, it must be so hard for you to see the person who hurt you being happy and satisfied. Knowing you can't fight back can be frustrating to deal with. The important thing is to focus on your healing. You matter, and what you went through matters too.

Don't blame yourself for not telling anyone or going after him. From personal experience, I know the kind of state such experiences leave us in and the first thing we want to do is shut ourselves out in guilt and shame. Perpetrators often use manipulation tactics to keep us quiet and I'm sorry to hear he inflicted it on you.

If you want to talk more about your experiences, feel free to put out a general request or message a listener from the browse listeners page.
