TW sexual assault -my best friend groped me a bunch

5 months ago my best friend repeatedly groped my breasts at a sleepover with 2 other people. He did this sober and he did this when we were all like awake. We slept in the same bed (which wasn't weird for any of our friends because we were super close and this was normal) he then groped me more while I was trying to sleep and literally too tired to move. It was 6am and we had all just gone to bed. I felt so disgusted because both of us were in a relationship at the time and he knows I'm a lesbian and we've known eachother a long time and there is no reason why he would of thought I was okay with that. Anyway flash forward a bunch of obvious friend drama coming out of this, even though it's been 5 months and he only groped me I still struggle a lot with this. I was crying today over it again. Everytime I think I've moved on i haven't. My best friend for years who I literally trusted the most groped me and I was so shocked and scared I didn't do anything and I didn't want the other friends to know. Anyway I don't really know what to do now. All my friends seemed to of gotten over this topic because it didn't happen to them lol but I am still struggling a lot. I feel betrayed and I feel like I lost my best friend. Does any one have any advice?

Leave. Leave them. Same thing happened to me kinda... I left that friend immediately. I know it'll hurt but you need to leave those friends. Don't be around people who'll support and be friends with a sexual assaulted.

@pineapplelovelove

Welcome pinapplelovelove,

I'm sorry to hear about what happened between you and your friend 6 months ago at the time when you were in a relationship with him. What he did is so morally wrong and disgusting and not okay. I'm sorry you had to go through this. I understand friends sleeping in the same bed with you. I can't believe he would do that while you're awake and while you're trying to sleep and get peaceful rest. I understand you being too tired to move especially after you went after 6 am. I'm sorry that he didn't respect that you're a lesbian and that he disrespected you and used you and your body like that. I understand the friend drama coming out of this. It's understandable that you still struggle with this. It was traumatic for your brain. No matter how little or how big the trauma is it still matters. It's understandable that you are struggling with the emotions that came with this as the event was so recent. I understand it tends to be people we trust the most who end up hurting us and breaking our trust. It's very hard to move on and it takes a long journey of effort to fully overcome this type of trauma or any trauma really. It's understandable that you are shocked and scared to talk about it. I know friends may not be the best option to talk about this topic especially if they haven't experienced it. It's totally understandable that you feel betrayed and that you lost your best friend. But maybe it's for the good. i would suggest to talk to an adult you trust or call a hotline because they will be able to help you more than we can. But we are here for you and want you to know you're not alone. I know it seems like it but you're not. A lot of people unfortunately have experienced similar type of trauma and we can relate to you. If you wish to talk to someone on 7 cups about what happened I'm sure someone would gladly be happy to chat with you. I know it isn't easy to reach out and I'm glad you did. I don't normally take chats on PTSD but if you want to talk about this you can send a message to me. I hope this helps. I also would suggest maybe finding a therapist that can help you process this event. I also suggest finding some coping skills and using them when you need a distraction or have urges to do unhealthy things. Please take care and stay safe. I want you to know you are being heard by me and validated by me. Feel free also to answer to this post:)
