Tips for coping with SA?
So I've uh,, just recently realized I was sexually assaulted when I was 11 and I'm not really coping with it very well. I've kinda just been crying on and off for days because of it and idk I just don't know what to do to like,,, start healing I guess I just want to stop thinking about it so much y'know, like I'm snapping at everyone because I'm just so stressed thinking about it all the time so any tips of ways to cope with it in a healthier way would be really nice
According to me, Healing just does not mean to forget the trauma completely. You cannot forget it completely because its the job of our memory system. Yes, it might fade away with time but it will be there in your memory system forever in some way or the other. Healing yourself from the trauma simply means accepting the incident and the pain, to not let the traumatic memory control your life, rather healing means to control the emotions that the memory brings on the surface in such a way that would transform you into your growth, into your strength. Healing means to be at peace with your wounds, knowing and recognizing that it is there but identifying the strengths you have and how it made you grow into such a beautiful version of yourself..!
I think you could start coping by letting it pass. The more you suppress it, the more it gets worse. It's okay to not be okay sometimes, you can take a rest. What you feel isn't in your control, and that's okay because it wasn't your fault. You can try to do things that you love and try to find things that help you express what you feel. Sometimes it may be hard, so sometimes it's okay to rest. I don't think it's possible to forget, but I'm sure one day you'll feel better and smile that you got through it. Jdndnd
