this is something im planning on telling a therapist soon for the first time but im so scared and never said it out loud before, but i just want to try it here once bc i feel like it has finally built up on me and i feel like im going to explode. I was molested when i was a child by my step brother’s friend and my step sister. I was a very young child, and i am now 23. It’s so hard, embarrassing, and terrifying to think of finally telling my therapist this in that so he could tell my parents for the first time so they can understand my wishes to have full distance away from my step sister bc it makes me uncomfortable. It’s also so scary bc these are events that happened so long ago that i have repressed so deep it almost makes me doubt myself, but i have never made this type of molestation claim before, and it is something i have acknowledged to myself years ago but never told. If anyone has anything encouraging to say to help me with this i would appreciate it so much.

Hi CharmingFriend, I understand that it has been really tough for you, and I wanted to say that you're really brave to talk about what happened years ago that really left a shadow in your heart. I believe in you and I hope you'll get better and better. Fighting!:)

Doubting abuse happened and second guessing yourself is very common, it doesn't invalidate your trauma at all though. Coming forward with this is really really hard and it's awesome that you're taking baby steps towards that. Move at your own pace and remember you are in charge of your own story, it's for these things to feel like they're spiraling out of control, but take it one step at a time. You'll be okay. ❤️ Would it help to write a letter/email to your therapist, maybe that they can read before or during session? It can be so overwhelming to say the words, do whatever makes it easier on you. ❤️ You deserve to feel comfortable and I wish you so much healing and feelings of safety in the future.
