what does this mean?
i don’t want to say i’m a victim or anything because in reality i’m not really sure. i tend to put this memory away and sometimes it pops back up in my head again but i don’t really know if it was assault or anything of that matter but i’ll go ahead and share: When i was younger maybe 3-6 years old (i don’t remember the exact age) my family and i went swimming at a public pool. It was an average day you know, fun, eating, swimming, etc. I then remember my cousin grabbing to hold me (while in the pool) and putting his hand underneath my private area. i remember being uncomfortable and trying to swim away but he wouldn’t let me go. He would sort of squeeze and then re-adjust me. I then finally got away and went swimming somewhere else Am i being dramatic? i just don’t want to overreact because i know there are other out there that have experienced worse so please let me know what you think.
Hey there ❤️ I understand why you'd feel as though this doesn't really 'count', but I assure you that your experience is valid. Even though you were much too young to understand what was happening and it might not have affected you as much as it could have, this is clearly something that disturbs you.
It's okay to feel disturbed by this memory, as this was an inappropriate act done against your will. It's okay to let yourself process those uncomfortable emotions, even after all this time has passed. Everyone processes an experience like this differently, so it's okay if it doesn't feel like your experience and journey matches that of other people. You don't someone else to validate your emotions for them to be real ❤️
Thank you for sharing your story with us ❤️ I know it means a lot to others in our community to read about stories like yours and know that we are not alone. I hope you'll have a good day ❤️
