My mother was murdered the week before the U.S. went into lockdown.
I still miss her terribly with each passing day.
My mum and I were very close, she always called me her baby, as I am the youngest of 5 children. My childhood was abusive in different ways. My parents hated each other and didn't sleep in the same room, let alone in same parts of the home, since before I was a small child. While they didn't divorce until my adult years, my father never had much to do with me while I was growing up and still now. I suppose that's why my mom and I were so close.
She was always the one and only person that was there for me, regardless of if we were fighting or not talking, no matter what was going on, she was there for me. Then one day she was just gone.
I still remember that morning clearly, my dad called me much earlier than any person in my family ever would.
"Your mother was murdered last night."
That was the second sentence he said to me over this phone call. I willed myself to wake up, hoping it was just a really fucked up nightmare. It wasn't, and I never woke up.
Not a day goes by where I don't think about and miss my mom. I wish I could just call her and hear her voice one last time.
@RipeLeaf. I’m very sorry to hear about your loss and the manner in which it happened. It’s sounds like you had a close relationship with your mother and it’s understandable that you miss her. I hope that you’ll be able to find support here.
@adventurousBranch3786 Thank you very much for your kindness and for reaching out. It means a lot more than I would be able to express to you with words.
Yesterday was a particularly rough work day and I was missing her even more than usual. It's why I felt the need to try and get my thoughts out here.
Thank you, I really hope so too! I hope you have been able to find support and comfort on here as well 💗
@RipeLeaf That is such a traumatic incident to go through..im so sorry for your loves. It must have been so difficult to move on. I cant even begin to understand what it must have felt like. I hope you stay strong.
Hi. I'm new and just read ur post. What a heartbreaking story. I understand what is like to suddenly & traumatically lose ur mom after growing up with a distant, abusive dad, but I don't know how I would handle it as it happened during the most isolating, uncertain, and stressful time in our generation. I'm so sorry for ur loss, and I'm glad u have different sources of support. May ur mom's light fill u with warmth and healing.
