Let's Build a Way of the River Playlist! 🎧🎶
The river isn't just a path; it has a rhythm, a sound, and a soul. To celebrate our journey and keep us motivated, we want to create a Way of the River Playlist!
Whether you’re in a season of calm waters or currently steering through a Mr. 8 moment, we want to hear the songs that resonate with you, and it can be anything!
- Literal River Themes: Songs about rivers, water, or sailing (e.g., "River" by Leon Bridges or "Proud Mary").
- Metaphorical Flow: Songs about letting go, trusting the process, or resilience (e.g., "Go With the Flow" or "Keep Your Head Up").
- Paddling Alongside: Songs that remind you of the "River Fellows" in your life or the feeling of compassionate connection (e.g., "Lean on Me").
- The "Wounded Healer": Songs about turning scars into bridges or finding strength in struggle.
- Punny or campy songs (just around the river bend!)

I’ll start us off with "The River" by Garth Brooks. It reminds me of the series on a whole, and about not just standing on the shore and watching the water go by, but actually choosing to ride the river, even when it’s tough. The playlist is being built here!

"Take me to the River" - Al Green
This is the first "river" song that will always pop in my head. Fun fact: when I was a little girl, my dad and stepmom brought home this singing fish that would sing "Take me to the River" & "Don't worry, be happy". I used to love this 🎶🐟. Awwww.

@Heather225 There's this song called "Over & Over" (Acoustic) - Nate Vickers that I newly love. Warning: it does contain the F word a couple of times, but the words when you listen to it is just so deep. The lyrics really hit me. It's sad, but I love it. Definitely think many of us can relate to feeling this way. 💙
@Heather225 Ohh yeah, one night I was watching a reel and this guy singing popped up. It really resonated with my emotions and how I am. I had to YouTube it to see what it was called and who sang it. Turns it is is called "Fine" - Kyle Hume. The realness about it. It's definitely a song for those of us who's secretly going through things but stills shows face and keeps on going. It's not my usual kinda music but it speaks to me, so I love it. 😀
@Heather225 Thank you for putting together this playlist for us to enjoy! 🎶 🎵
@Heather225
I loved this track during my run this morning, it isn't short and a great introduction to Rush's transition from a blue/rock to a progressive rock band, it's the last track of their 1975 Caress of Steel album...
The section of lyrics that struck me:
@Heather225
Just came on randomly during my run, a band i enjoyed live last year. The track isn't short and is typical of modern progressive rock, hope you all enjoy it ð¤ªð¤ª
