Basketball Issues!

Hii! You can call me Karu, I play basketball as a minor, but have been having some trouble recently. I'm not sure if I'm good enough for this sport, especially because at the end of the year, we'll have some scouting thing, where the best players in my country play other countries of the same agegroup. The reason I'm stressed is because I'm very sure my sister is going to get in and if I don't that means and/or proves that the skill difference between us is bigger than I imagined. So I've gotta get better! But I suffer from self-esteem issues and anxiety, which ruins the game for me, making me think I'm not enough! I don't want to quit, that's for sure, but I can't stop bashing my own head in for my mistakes. I'm inspired by Caitlyn Clark highly and I would like to know some ways for me to mentally improve my game!

Yeesh! What a long paragraph! Sorry!

@StrayFinch

I'm not a professional or anything but when I was younger I would play against anyone in the neighborhood. Over time I got better at streetball...dribbling and shooting. So I guess just be up for the work that comes with getting better. I'd also say that if you made the team then your good enough, sometimes losing teaches you a valuable lesson. If fact that's how you get better at something...you make mistakes and review what you did and how to improve.

This might help. I used to play a lot of baseball when I was younger only because I have a large number of brothers and they all played. I felt obligated to play, but my heart was only a little into it. At first I was very bad, I was the worst position and I would tear grass out of the ground instead of playing because there was no action. However one day a new coach saw potential and tried me on second base. I did very well, I even became the best batter on the team by my final year. Sometimes it just takes time before your skills develop fully or the right opportunity.
