Dealing with rejection
I have never been great at dealing with rejection myself. It always brings up feeling of self doubt, sadness, anger, and frustration. But when your child is rejected by a group that she desperately wanted to be a part of, it has caused me more anxiety and helplessness than ever before. My daughter is in college, so I cannot fix this for her. It’s a life lesson that she has to learn and I know that, but for some reason it has affected me just as much. I am struggling to put my own feelings aside to be there to support her but it the truth is, it has caused me so much anxiety that has started to affect my day to day life.

Oh, I can imagine how tough this must be for both you and your daughter. Rejection can really stir up a mix of emotions, and it's completely okay to feel that way. It's evident how much you care for your daughter, and your empathy shines through your words.
Remember, it's completely normal to be impacted by your child's experiences, especially when it comes to something as significant as rejection. It shows your deep connection and love for her. It's alright to acknowledge your own feelings and struggles in the process.
Take a moment to breathe and understand that these emotions are valid. Maybe share your feelings with your daughter in a gentle way, letting her know that you're there for her and also navigating your own emotions. You're a caring parent, and your support means the world to her.
It's important to take small steps to care for yourself too. Maybe engage in activities that bring you joy or talk to a friend about your feelings. Remember, it's okay not to have everything figured out. Life is full of ups and downs, and this is just a part of the journey. You're doing your best, and that's truly commendable. Your love and support will undoubtedly help your daughter navigate through this life lesson. You're not alone in this, and brighter days will come.

I’m so sorry you’re dealing with this but just know your feelings are valid and it is perfectly normal and we’re all rooting for you
@polprncss I'm so sorry you're dealing with that, but just know that we have people here that are rooting for you, including myself

I hear you. Dealing with rejection, especially when it involves someone we care about deeply, can be incredibly challenging and bring up a mix of difficult emotions like self-doubt, sadness, anger, and frustration. It's understandable that seeing your daughter go through this experience is causing you a great deal of anxiety and helplessness.
As a parent, it's natural to want to protect and support your child, but you're right that this is a life lesson she'll have to navigate on her own. It's tough to see her struggle, and it's okay to acknowledge that it's affecting you deeply as well.
It sounds like you're grappling with finding a balance between supporting your daughter and managing your own emotions. It's important to prioritise your own well-being too, as your ability to support her effectively may be impacted by your own anxiety.
Sometimes having a safe space to process your feelings can help you better support your daughter while also taking care of yourself.
Remember, it's okay to not have all the answers or to feel overwhelmed by this situation. Your daughter is fortunate to have a parent who cares so deeply about her well-being. Take things one step at a time, and don't hesitate to reach out for help if you need it.
Take care!
