I’ve noticed that surrounding yourself with positive energy and positive people dramatically boost your happiness and view on the world.
VRChat and responsible drinking. Even though I haven't got the latter under control yet but friends from around the world you can speak freely too with no thought of discrimination if you surrond yourself with the right people.
@emotionalLunch7969 i dont
@emotionalLunch7969 I pursue my passions unapologetically - learning to let go of any shame and guilt for wanting more in life. Realizing that the people who judge and $h!t talk are usually the ones who don't even like themselves. I go towards the hobbies and passions that leave me wide-eyed, panting and grinning at how much I've impressed myself.
I don't. It seems like depression and self-loathing is waiting to football-tackle me into the ground first chance it gets. And once it does, it never lets go, even for just a moment to let me escape from it. I'm caught in a death-inducing choke-hold as I struggle to break free from those two feelings. Who knows? Maybe in my heart, I want to succumb to the choke-hold.
Please note I am just discussing the emotions running through me. I am in no way implying that I have the urge to "catch my bus".
@emotionalLunch7969 The truth is I don't always stay happy, but when I'm struggling what gives me purpose is my religion. Some people find purpose in other things like learning a skill or serving the community. In general I find that seeking quick pleasures and instant gratification through entertainment or consumables or social media ultimately leads to a deep feeling of meaninglessness. Finding a purpose, something to dedicate yourself to night and day, is what leads to true happiness. In japanese there's two words that are often translated as "happy". One is "ureshii", which means happiness that you get from an experience. The other is "shiawase" which is an overarching long term happiness, which keeps you going even when situationally things are really rough. It's good to be ureshii, but to me the main goal is to be shiawase.
By finding joy in simple things and appreciating what I already have and how far I’ve come . And by being my own cheerleader .
@emotionalLunch7969
Stay? How do you become happy?
@emotionalLunch7969 I felt deep sadness and life confusion which lead me joining the community TTT
I think doing things for yourself that you enjoy. Sometimes you need to look at yourself as someone that is someone that you are supposed to take care of if that makes sense. Checking in with myself has helped me so much to remind myself of who I am and what I want to do.
