Hi! New to the site and forum. Therapist mentioned I could start a blog. I'm not sure what to blog about. I'm working through some stuff after learning that my mother is unhealthy and how she communicates with me and her proximity to me drags me down in an abusive way. It's a lot to deal with. So I'm in therapy every week which is GREAT, and I feel the sense to admit something now...or, to put it a different way..I feel acceptance now, allowing me to take this step even when I am not sure what to say about it. I feel safe enough to speak with someone besides a co-dependent abuser. It's a big step for me! Thanks for creating this safe space! If anyone wants to share their experiences as a child of a co-dependent parent please feel free.

For me it's a lot of guilt tripping, passive aggressive comments, and entertaining their self-deprecating and defeatist language towards themselves that instilled zero confidence in me, and I'm definitely old enough now to not define my confidence on my mother and will be doing all I can to learn to be my own person and that it is a good thing for both of us.

Hey hi willow 😊

Welcome to 7cups 🌸 I'm the happiest to know you joined here with us. Yayyy...!! 💗

I'm sry you going through a lot n Ofc it feels huge. When something shifts like this about ur own mom, it doesn’t stay in ur head, it sits in ur heart. It can shake u n soften u at the same time.

It makes sense it feels overwhelming. There’s love, hurt, relief, confusion… all mixed together. That’s a lot for one person to hold.

U don’t have to balance it perfectly rn. It’s ok if it feels messy. It’s ok if one moment ur strong n the next ur small.

Be gentle w urself. This is tender stuff. The fact that can even say it out loud shows how strong u already r. 🤍

You're not alone in this, even it seems to be... we walking besides you, navigating. I'm so proud of u for reaching out for help, that takes lot of strength n courage ❤️ you're appropriative 😊

Sending u lot's of love n embrace ur way 💞

Warm Hugs 🤗
