I heard about a BBS that once existed in my university

None of us can be forever young, but we can leave our own stories of youth, which can touch both ourselves and others who read them.

88, namely Between Misty Water and Clouds, was a BBS opened up very early and once enjoyed great popularity, which belonged to our university and was a spiritual home of many alumni. It had been permenantly closed before I heard about it. There were three kinds of activities held by those in charge of 88 and also in the name of it, which were the Misty Trailwalk, the Endless Night Concert and the Four Season Ball. I know little about the ball, but I did get to know something about the other two. The trailwalk continues to be held, while the concert discontinued in 2018. Since the organizers were students in Yuquan Campus, the concert and the ball were held there, and almost every time the trailwalk started there.

A former organizer of the Misty Trailwalk wrote an essay before graduation. "Everyone here had so vivid personalities and was so avid and persistent. Therefore, although I was often exacted and 'ridiculed', I felt nothing wrong. Because there were so many people walking forward ahead of me, I only had the reason to move forward.""At the end of the story, the plots of the past will always emerge like TV dramas. I don't want to render the atmosphere so sentimental, but every path I took and every person I met have witnessed a common history, which seems a little difficult for me to see again, yet some emotions and some spirits have been buried into my bones and blood, inable to be washed away.""Although I may still lack of 'experience', I have seen most mountains and waters of Hangzhou and watched all the changing seasons of the lush forests and bamboos. I often think every mountain is a book, in which our wandering figures form pleasant words, which made up beautiful stories together with green mountains and waters and cultural architecture. Savouring the stories years later, I will still sigh for the scenery and friendship at that time. I am fortunate to have found such a mossy path up the mountain amidst the hustle and bustle of life, with every step carrying away the dust of secularity beneath my feet. On the way, every person I met was so pure, friendly, simple, and nice.""As we often say, if trailwalk can help everyone develop a healthy lifestyle, then that's enough, no matter what form or scale it exists in. Even so, perhaps every organizer of the event will leave with the going of time, farther and farther from Zhejiang University and the Misty Trailwalk, but the scenery, the strength and the spirits will remain deep in everyone's heart forever, which will finally be brewed into good wine, aromatic even after long."

I read the farewell declaration of the Endless Night Concert. In 2017, before the last band's performance, the host said,"from the first 'Endless Night' on April 19th, 2008 to the tenth 'Endless Night' on May 20th, 2017, during over nine years, relatively significant changes took place in my life, and from time to time, people and things around me remind me of the efflux of time and its knife-like ruthlessness. But every time I stand on the lawn of 'Endless Night', I feel a sense of eternity as if the time became stationary." This former organizer wrote in the farewell declaration, "the Laohe Mountain behind us won't change. The lawn under us and the starry sky over us won't change. People in love with music won't change. The pleasure of sharing music with each other won't change. It is like a real dream built by us together, in which we can pursue poetry of life without traveling far away, and our empathy with each other amid the same time and space will make us not feel lonely when we recall it in the future."

Although 88 has been closed forever, our another BBS, cc98, remains with us. 98 Trailwalk is held in the name of cc98. The Endless Night Concert is followed by Banxia Concert (or the Half Summer Concert) held by cc98.

(Banxia is a kind of plant named Pinellia ternata. It is said that the plant grows around Summer Solstice, or about the middle of summer, when the Qi of the heaven and the earth is half Yin and half Yang. However, the concert is actually held in May.)

An alumna who had gone to both the Endless Night Concert and the Half Summer Concert wrote an essay for reminiscence. "What we want to pursue is endless happiness, but after all, cloudlessness is fleeting instance, and half overcast and half sunniness is the ordinary state of life instead. If I can have the courage to empty at any time, then I can obtain peace of mind."
