Hello friends 👋

What's the best way to open this up to your partner?

HI Khelan. From this site I've learnt that a good way to broach a subject is with "I" statements. Particularly "I want ....." and "I feel .....". And to try yo avoid "you" statements. So you might say something like, "I feel insecure. I want to feel more confident. Will you help me by ......" Although of course, you should chose your own words and feelings. This tends to be less confrontational and are less likely to be interpreted as criticism than statements starting with "you ..", such as "you don't give me enough reassurance".

That's one thing I've learnt. But I'm still not great at it myself, so if you find something better, do let me know.

It's totally understandable and normal that you want assurance. I was desperate for validation, myself. I wonder if you gave encountered the concept of self-validation? It changed my life. Best wishes in getting your needs met.
