Need to chat to someone?
Hello Newbies and a very warm welcome to 7 Cups.
7 Cups is an amazing service, it has absolutely brought me from a dark place to where I am today, and if you make correct use of the site and it's resources, whilst also using the site when you're feeling good as well as when you need support.
We have many Chat Rooms and the Forums as well as a lot of information about many different issues and situational support resources.
We also have Listeners who use a skill called Active Listening, but what exactly is Active Listening and why is it important and relevant to support you?
Active Listening is using skills which are taught to each and every Listener before they are able to listen to you lovely people, and there is a key word here... Listen.
Our role here is to listen to you openly, give you the floor to speak about whatever it is that is bothering you, and by asking relevant questions relating to your situation in a person-centred way, we will guide you to make your own decision or conclusion to your situation.
What is the difference between Listening and Hearing?
During conversations, we can either hear or listen, Hearing is when we speak to someone but we're just hearing the words, with no initial processing. Listening is when we hear what you say, we process the information and reflect the information to ensure we have heard you correctly. We can not tell you what to do, or what we think you should do, our mission is to help you to come to the point you can decide this for yourself, it's your life right?
Our aims will be to explore your situation and emotions you are experiencing and make a plan to guide you through these tough times.
Unfortunately, if you're in a state of crisis, we can only refer you for support, Active Listeners are not trained to deal with these situations but they will provide you with a link to support.
We will listen to you openly, with love and care and do our best to support you.
No matter what, we are here 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, regardless of what part of the world you are in.

I am joining you in welcoming all newbies! Thank you for sharing this informative post about 7 cups. I think 7 cups can seem a little overwhelming at first.
