Newbie here
Hi guys, just joined the community, I accepted my very first chat from a member and she/he is not responding for a while and i mean she has not messaged me anything after my first message, how much time should I wait before I disconnect?
Hey @everythingwillbedaijoubu, welcome to the community. ❤
This is a great question, and something quite frequent unfortunately, that most of us here experience.
It could happen for a number of reasons such as: connectivity issues, being uncomfortable/overwhelmed on the site/ nervous to speak, emergency, waiting too long, etc. You can wait for around 5-10 minutes to allow them to answer post your initial greeting, then ask if they are there, wait 5 or more minutes and if there is no answer still (or if you see the red dot beside their name, indicating they are offline currently), you can let them know that since they seem unavailable/ offline at this time, you're ending the chat for now and they are welcome to reconnect later with you, or any other listener, whenever convenient.
For more prompt support during chats, you can ask any questions pertaining to site or chats related in the Listener Support Room, it is always open and supportive folks are readily available to meet and support each other, feel welcomed to join us anytime.
Also, this is a Welcome pack for you, it is full of helpful links and resources and useful information, to help you start your journey as a listener, as well as to ease your navigation around.
We all thrive here with alot of support and encouragement from our peers, you can also consider connecting with a Listener coach or a Mentor, these are trained listeners who happily help and assist other listeners out regarding the site in general, or chat related situations and questions, or resources.
