I sat in a parking lot today and saw lots of people, so many people ,all different types. I can't help but think how they feel or how they live. Most look to be happy. I think to myself, is that how it should be? Where did it go so wrong for me? I find myself feeling to much or not enough. I try to scream as loud as possible but I hear nothing. I have seen and done so much in my life and yet I am still at the beginning and end. I'm so confused. I like to think I was happy once but maybe I have never been. I have been looking for something or someone but don't know how to see. This is my first post here and it took me three days to speak up. I'm scared, angry, sad, and lost in my own prison. I don't know what I need or how to find it. I'm just here....

@Trip98US

I understand what you are going thru many feel similar

honestly when we look around and see others the smile or seem OK or happy it often just our perception. We do not see their struggles and hard times maybe the smile they had when crossing your path was a momentary reprieve from their issues.

We cannot compare ourselves with others as we all have different levels of happiness and coping skills and some cover their sorrow well.

@Trip98US Hi. I’m glad you’re here. I’ve found happiness to be elusive for much of my life, but I did find it. To be sure, it can be incredibly difficult to be happy sometimes. However happiness is available and it is a worthwhile pursuit no matter who we are or what stage of live we are in. I believe we have been tricked in a sense to want to buy our happiness and there is no shortage of salesmen who promise their product will provide it. We have been sold on the idea of good and bad emotions and that we can somehow crush the bad with the good. We’ve been sold on the idea that we can will our way to happiness by filling our heads with happy thoughts. Most of the happiness strategies I bought into were not really helpful long term. I also discounted some of the time tested wisdom that can lead to more happiness. And just like all things I know are good for me (like exercise, sufficient rest, healthy food and healthy information diet) I sometimes neglect what would make me happy. Gratitude was always something I thought was practically useless - good for others, but not for me - But I now believe that gratitude is really important. Happiness takes some effort on my part, but not a huge effort, and compared to getting though a day in a fowl mood, the work required to be happy is very much worth the small effort. Cultivating my own happiness means I can share it with others in my life. They are kinder to me when I’m not scowling and I feel more kindly toward them. My own happiness benefits me but also benefits others. So, I think your seeking happiness is a very wonderful and almost noble pursuit. I wish you a speedy and efficient journey on your path to happiness.
