As a listener, I’m learning that not all connections that feel deep are truly mutual. Sometimes what looks like love is actually the care, patience, and hope we bring into a situation ourselves.

The person I was attached to wasn’t a bad person. There were moments of kindness. But emotional clarity, consistency, and readiness weren’t really present — and I ignored that for a while.

This experience has reminded me that love isn’t proven by how much we sacrifice or how long we wait. Real love is mutual, steady, and clear. It doesn’t confuse, disappear, or leave someone questioning their worth.

I’m sharing this not to blame anyone, but to reflect — for myself and for anyone else who might be struggling with a similar realization. Healing begins when we stop romanticizing imbalance and start choosing emotional honesty, even when it hurts.
