What music do you all like?
Hi guys! I am 22 years old and I love music. I am curious to see what everyone's music taste is on here. I listen to a variety of genres, but I mainly lean towards emo music, metal, artsy/bubblegum pop, and dreamy/ambient songs.
Here are some examples of what I mean:
Emo: Includes genres and waves all across the board, from emotional hardcore to screamo to pop punk to mid-west emo to skramz, and some new or more niche subgenres. Some of my favorites include Thursday, Avril Lavigne, Algernon Cadwallader, The Story So Far, Belmont, Salvia Palth, Paramore, We Are The In Crowd, Courage My Love, The Early November, Dear In The Headlights, VIRA.
Metal: Mostly nu-metal, core music and things that NikNocturnal talks about on YouTube. I like metalcore, melodic post-hardcore, nu-core (like Tallah), deathcore, and djent. Some of my favorite bands are Like Moths To Flames, Spiritbox, Invent Animate, Currents, Veil of Maya, Architects, Team Sleep, and Lorna Shore.
Artsy/Bubblegum Pop: I have a special place in my heart for girly pop music. I mainly like the artsy hidden gems and the Y2K and Tumblr-era bops. Some examples of pop albums I like are True Romance by Charli XCX, PORTALS by Melanie Martinez, Be Not Nobody by Vanessa Carlton, Let Go by Avril Lavigne (I consider her more as emo pop-- I miss this era of music), Night Time, My Time by Skye Ferreira, The Family Jewels by MARINA (and the Diamonds), and The Spirit Room by Michelle Branch. Add a little bit of R&B in here too.
Dreamy music: Mostly atmospheric or anything that transports me into a fantasy world, such as a cyberpunk utopia or an enchanted forest. I would say that this has a lot of genre overlap. This includes ambient music, white noise, trip hop, retrowave/chillwave, 80's synthwave and darkwave, video game soundtracks, and folk music. I really love Aphex Twin's Selected Ambient Works Volume #2.

I love the variety of music you listen to! Like you, I also listen to different genres. Broadway will always be a guilty pleasure. In middle school, pop punk was my go to, and recently I have been finding myself listening to my old playlists again. I absolutely loved All Time Low, Fall Out Boy, and We The Kings. More recently, I have been into folksy music, mainly Noah Kahan and Hozier. I have also been listening to Sam Fender more, I love his music.

Folk music is good. Although it is not a main genre I listen to, I like it because of the cottage-core aesthetic it gives off. The most I can think of is Florence & The Machine, AURORA, Vanessa Carlton, and Taylor Swift's works, but I don't think most of these artists are actually folk, they just make or have made folk-sounding music. I really like folk punk and I am looking to get into that more. As for pop-punk, I really like the 2010's era of it-- the new stuff just doesn't hit the same, although I will admit some modern albums, songs and artists I like. It reminds me of Hot Topic because they play a lot of it XD

Just like you, I listen to a variety of music. Lately I've mostly been listening to nu-metal lately, like Linkin Park, Papa Roach, Limp Bizkit, and bands like that. I listen to pop punk like Green Day, My Chemical Romance, and Blink-182. I like alternative rock like Red Hot Chili Peppers and Thirdeyeblind. I also love Avril Lavigne. I also listen to 90s pop and rap, from Backstreet Boys to Maroon 5 to Eminem.
I get made fun of at my school for the music I've listen to and I love it when I find people who have the same taste as me.

For metalcore, you've probably heard of them if you frequent NikNocturnal but jusst in case you haven't somehow, check out Sleep Token's album "Take Me Back To Eden". If you ever liked the sound of Deftones, you might also like Loathe too from the same label, some to check out from them would be "Is It Really You", "A Sad Cartoon" and "Dimorphous Display" from them!
One I found recently that I got in to and recommend is Unprocessed's album "...And Everything In Between" which is basically Polyphia with lyrics, they even have a feature with them... I'd recommend "Blackbone", "Glass" and "Rain Live at Unprocession 2.0" from them to check out.
...and with that said, also actually check out Polyphia while you're at it if you're in the mood for some instrumental progressive rock. "Playing God", "Goose" and "G.O.A.T" for those! They have some with lyrics too, "Bloodbath (Featuring Chino Moreno)" and "Chimera (Feat. Lil West)" are all great picks.
If you're really in the mood for some edgy emo "Metal/rap" "Falling In Reverse - Watch the World Burn" (Trigger Warning) is a really wild ride. Yes ronnie, you good bro. lol. And one last one I'll go with is BOI WHAT, who's creating basically fully AI generated (vocals included) Sponge Bob songs featuring Plankton 😆 Check out "Neon Tide" and "Battling my Demons" there if you're in to it! Hope you see something you like there!
@PopPunkPrincess17 would you be agained a genre called grunge country (also kinda known as gothic country but its at the same time not known as that.....) its super good. not super duper country but its got great beat. for example here check these songs out:

personally i have some other songs i love, like Miamy My Amy by kieth whitley, (this one is so beautifullll) or other genres too, (i listen to everything...literally) but country is where its at for me hehe
