"Earning Trust"

Hey everyone,

So, the other day I was trying to request a personal session with a listener. But, when I clicked on the button, I got a message that said I need to post something on the forums or "earn trust" by being added to the queue. Has anyone else gotten this message? Does anyone know what it means?

Thanks!

I've seen other reports about this. It seems to be a new feature, or maybe a new bug. I haven't seen any announcement about it, not even an announcement for listeners.

You might be able to post in Members Classifieds to say what kind of listener you're looking for, and hopefully a suitable listener will contact you. You could even tag particular listeners when you post there.

Is there anyone from the 7 Cups Community - who might be in charge of something that - that are able to comment and let us know what's going on? It's obviously an issue multiple people are having. Are there new guidelines that haven't been announced?

@AwkwardFascination You're right. There are new guidelines that haven't been announced.

I've reported that it's causing some confusion and I'm trying to find out exactly what the new guidelines are.

The rough outline is that if you're a new member you can't send a message to a listener who isn't available. For example, I keep getting messages from new members in the middle of the night because they don't realize that I'm not logged in and cannot possibly reply. In fact I might be on a break for a month, or I might have left 7 Cups forever. It's to try and prevent that kind of thing happening.

@RarelyCharlie

That's a fair reason, sure. However, a follow-up question would be: if they're not available/away/etc., why are they still showing up as "Available"? I tried this with multiple green-dotted people, and received the same message. Maybe it's just me, but it seems like there's a flaw somewhere.

@AwkwardFascination I agree. There are problems with the way it has been implemented.

You're right, and what I said above was wrong because at the time I didn't fully understand what they'd done. New members can't contact any listener, not even if the listener appears to be available. I can't think of a justification for this.

@RarelyCharlie

Yes. That is baffling.
