Forum - Subscribing when posting

Is there a timeline to get the subscribe feature working when the box is ticked to Subscribe to this Thread?

I know there's a lot to work on, but to me this seems like a glitch that has lasted a long time that affects functionality and I would think should be a fairly easy fix?
