Help and Tips For Newcomers at 7 Cups

Since the new room change and numerous other updates, there have been many scratching their heads as to what's going on so I thought I would answer some of the common questions here, all in one place. ☺ I encouraged other listeners to share this thread with newcomers who are confused about some things.

Do I have to pay to use 7 Cups?

7 Cups of Tea is totally free to use and so is the app and upcoming eBook. You will not be asked for credit/debit card details when you sign up. Anything you see that talks about paying for things, are totally optional and are an extra service available to all users. The Compassion Campaign Jar is simply a way for users to donate to 7 Cups to sustain the website to make it available to everyone who needs support in future. You aren't obligated to donate to use the website or app.

What does G, M and L stand for?

You may have noticed that people have (M) or (L) next to their username in chat rooms, whilst some have nothing next to their names or a (G). Here's what they mean:

G = Guest

M = Member

L = Listener

I'm a guest and can't access the other chat rooms, can I no longer get any support?

All guests have access to support at 7 Cups. You can gain support from listeners in 1 on 1 chats by clicking on the "Connect With A Listener" button or you can read the self-help guides. Guests can no longer access all support chat rooms.

What if I don't want to sign up as a member?

There is no pressure to sign up as a member as you can still get support. However, signing up as a member means you can access all support chat rooms. If you're concerned about anonymity, you can create a totally anonymous member account. You do not have to provide your name and you can use a fake e-mail address if you want to. You can use whatever picture you want, as long as it meets 7 Cups' guidelines for profile pictures (found in settings, where you set your profile picture).

Do I have to become a listener?
No-one has to become a listener. Becoming a listener is entirely voluntary and you're welcome to remain as a member throughout your entire 7 Cups journey.
I'm very happy/not happy with the new room changes!
You can give 7 Cups your anonymous feedback about the recent changes, here.
Extras:

If you have any questions, ask away here, PM me directly or alternatively, you can e-mail 7 Cups directly through community@7cups.com, but you may have to wait a couple of days before receiving a response.
