Topic and Language in general requests
Hey :)
I already made a post about languages listed on listener profiles (Browse listeners by language) here:
https://www.7cups.com/forum/QuestionsFeedbackIdeasFun_33/Feedback_37/Languageslistedonlistenersprofiles_42608/
Now I would speak about the language (and topic) specified on my requests when I send a general request.
Here is an example of what you can see when taking a request:
In this case, the member (myself) expect that the listener:
- is comfortable with the topic listed (here Disabilities is the topic)
- is fluent in the language specified (here French is the language)
The reasons are the same than for my previous thread:
Find a listener who is able to provide emotional support in my language and/my topic.
If you can't, it's okay, we can't speak all the languages, but please don't take this chat !
Please take a chat in a specific language only if you are fluent in it, and is ready to speak this language, knowning this member may not speak English at all. You will be expected a level of professionalism, grammar and vocabular equivalent to chats in your native language.
@TortueDesBois
Very good thread, Bois! all listeners should see this and respect this!
@BurningEmber :)
If you are a member and want the language listed with your request, you can go in your settings and then scroll down.
Members select a language for getting a listener who can support them in their language.
please, don't take chats listed in a language that you don't speak, even if the member is waiting for more long time than others.
when we have preferences based on the language, we prefer wait a bit more for a better fit than getting a listener who can't understand us and have to return in queue multiple times.
PLEASE, RESPECT IT.
I don't have to be mistreated or get a poorer quality because I have language preferences
Listeners need to respect my language preference, and not blame me or calling me of names because they were not able to respect my language preference. Don't take chats in languages that you don't speak or on topics you are not comfortable. Let's other listeners take it!!
I still have many listeners who take chats in a language that they don't speak. It's frustrating and it makes it very hard for me to get the support need. It makes me feel that my needs are not important and I'm unvalued. It shows that they don't care about people who are seeking support in their language. It's not nice at all.
Thank you so much for your time writing this! Have a nice day 😊😄
I am studying English. Learning Foreign languages is very interesting and beneficial

@Lily299 it is for sure, and there are appropriate sites for learn them. its ok as a member to try to chat in other languages, too, as long as the chat focus on emotional support.
but that is not a place for listeners to practice or learn with members. they are here for provide an excellent emotional support to members.
so if they are in need to practice, other sites and chats would be more appropriate. they will can take chats in those languages when their level will be enough for offering high quality listening and keep a high level of professionalism with an appropriate grammar and vocaulary.
@amusingFan7511 thanks for the link to google, just google, very useful
I have encountered a listener who lied on his profile in live chat. He said he speaks English, period and live in the USA. But then when we chat, he does not understand any common terms in English and kept asking me to repeat myself and explain things to him and started attacking me when I asked why he is that way. A total troll. And he is not a brand new listener neither so beware. Some people either play dumb or are just trolls to upset the ones who are already hurting. Don't know why 7 cups keeps those trolls around.
@TortueDesBois
I think this is an amazing thread :)
@TortueDesBois interesting
@TortueDesBois Great thread!
