Why do I need to have membership?
I don't like this "membership" stuff. Why is it needed to use the site? It is super messy and bothersome. I don't like all the stupid abusive messages either such as contests earning badges, etc. It only adds to my misery. Is there any way to turn everything off?

We tried allowing people to use most of the site as guests, without signing up as members, but there were problems. So now we're trying it the other way to see if that reduces the problems. At the moment I'd say it's not 100% clear which way is better. Yes, it can be super messy and bothersome.
There's usually no way to turn annoying things off at 7 Cups, unfortunately. The people who send us these messages about contests and badges don't realize that they are abusive and add to some people's misery. It would be better, in my opinion, if 7 Cups could make it easier for people to customize their experience of the site, but that doesn't ever seem to have been a priority.
