Affirming health in my own way — how about you?
For years doctors have been trying to get me to be smaller/leaner.
it has been a battle that has left me feeling inadequate and exhausted.
I recently found a non judgmental gym I like and go 3-5x a week.
The goal is to be strong and flexible — not smaller.
This feels more like me - supporting the body I have, not trying to make it into something it’s not.
The best way for me to get there willingly is to have a smoothie within a few minutes of getting up, change, and go.
it feels good to put it in the first part of my day before it gets moved down the list by other responsibilities.
@calmLavender1915 That's awesome that you were able to re-frame it as improving the body you have in terms of strength and flexibility, rather than arbitrary body type categories. At the end of the day, what your body can DO is much more important than how it looks!
Personally, I had to detach myself from my body first - I thought of my body as a "space ship" that I inhabit - it motivated me to maintain this vehicle without judging it on visual terms.
