As an autistic person I’m considered umempathetic
But I feel empathy
I just don’t know how to demonstrate it
I think alexithymia has something to do with it
If you tell me something that seems horrible
But your expression doesn’t match the horror
My expression tends to reflect your expression
Not the content of your story
My wife says she’s an empath
I certainly can’t tell
I was getting ready to really get into it
Is that ok?
I want to make sure that we’re in that place before we go there
@Hayden1007 Have you seen professionals and ruled out other mental health disorders? There can be a lot of other things before coming to a conclusion of autism, specially if you are saying you diagnosed yourself.
I’ve taken a number of tests that suggest I should seek further evaluation but they’re costly and time consuming
But yes there are some overlap with other things
I know I’m not a narcissist
Even if I have some narcissistic qualities
I’m also pretty sure I have CPTSD too
But that wouldn’t explain the social awkwardness I had prior to the years of abuse
I wrote something but it didn’t post

Don't self diagnose! Autism is confusing and doctors have been studying it for years. You DONT want Autism. It's not fun, its isolating and lonely, it's not cute and fun o4 anything, it's best to talk to a professional and find out what's going on. Maybe on the surface it looks like autism but really it's the result of underlying trauma or another illness. Mental illnesses, personality disorders, disorders in general are all very complicated. Please please pleeeeeeaaaaaseeee talk to a professional. I want what's best for you. I want you to be happy and thrive, and self diagnosing won't lead you to thriving.
