Friday, May 5! New to 7 Cups today? Say hello and introduce yourself to our community !!
@Laura Hi everybody. My name is Chris. I guess I'm here because I'm 37 years old, and I feel like my social circle is non-existant. I'm married with 2 teenage boys, and they're off on their own adventures. My wfie and I are in something of a rut where we just.. exist. I have probably 2 good friends and a handful of aquaintences. But they both have their own battles with depression. I've been a listening ear for years, but it's wearing me down slowly. Lately I think it'd be easier to avoid them than hear how bad things are. It feels horrible to say, but I'm running out of go juice. I feel like there's nobody to really share my thoughts or my day with, or to just be energized with through conversation.
I'm sorry, this all sounds so bleak. I hope it's ok.
Hello! My name is Leigh and I am 35 years old. I have one child and am separated from my ex long term. We made peace finally, but the stress had undoubtedly seeped it's way in over the last few months. Now I am trying to pick up socially where I left off over a decade ago. I had friends in the military but as with any occupation, those friends some times drift when you separate from that common experience, and I had separated from the military in 2014.
I have a couple of new friends now, but those relationships have become strained due to my recent bout of hypersensitivity to emotions. I had never been this way until my separation hit me the hardest about a year ago. Since developing this hypersensitivity to emotions, now a fairly easy trigger can have me in tears quickly. I can pretty much feel when it's coming on, but I have not been able to stiffle it before it becomes obvious to the people around me.
I guess I am on here to seek a little support for those situations where things are strained and I want a neutral party's thoughts. I resonate well with people who like to share their own experiences as examples of their thoughts on a subject.
My goal for myself is to get back to the relatively carefree and slightly jerk-like guy that didn't dwell on things so easily. I know this is not me and I am sick of living as a different person. I know I am awesome, I just have put a damper on it somehow. :)
Hey Leigh! That's a lot of you're going through! It can be really tough to have so much things going on in your head! I hope you get the right support you deserve and accomplish your goals!
@KravenFire
@Isaac Yes. It has affected work, and this is a fairly new job too. I feel like I have had to hide my turmoil for a while while getting into the swing of work without letting on how much problems at home are causing me in my professional life.
I do hope that I get the support I need :) I think I have went just about as far as I can go on my own, and I feel that if I keep shouldering the burden by myself it will eventually crush me.
Thank you for the reply :D
