Helping a Depressed Loved One
Hello and good day! My Name is Ely, I'm 25 years old from the Philippines and I have a girlfriend who has Major Depressive Disorder. She is 20 years old and she has depression for about 4 years now. We've been dating as a couple for a year now, and I am making this thread because I want to help and support her in dealing her depression. Any advice will be a big help for me.

Hi! I'm Maria. I was in your case. I also have depression for 4 years now. A year and half ago I started my relationship with my ex gf and it ended about 10 months later. I needed her to understand me, but it was hard for me to express myself properly most of the times, so there was a lot of missunderstandings because of my continously changing moods and feelings deep inside. A little by little, with my depression behind of me and scared to lose her in the context that we didn t really understood each other, I changed, I lost myself, and after the break up, my depression hit me like falling off the mountain. Being confortable in your skin is the most important feeling and the partner just have to know how to value and encourage their loved ones for what they are. Just like the kids. They don t need expensive toys, just to know they have a person next to them in case they fall off the bike. Hope I helped!
Also check Sadie&P on youtube. Sadie has depression since she was little. They are a couple and talk a lot about love and spiritual and smart stuff. Personaly, having depression, it helps me clear my mind and be peacefully. You can watch it together with her!
