Hi,I'm Adam, and have joined 7 Cups to get some support with some LGBTQ+ issues which I've had for many years. I don't have anyone I can share this with and it helps more talking with a stranger who understands. I'm trying to come to terms with my sexuality. I know I have strong feminine urges. Being honest, I'm happier looking on the Internet for cute outfits, lovely shoes. That's the real me, but I always feel so guilty about it and I know I shouldn't.

@Adam2178 Coming to terms with our sexuality can be very difficult and may take time. It sounds like you have started on the path to knowing and accepting your sexuality and that is something to be proud of. It will get easier as you do more work in this area. You can do this, I believe in you.

@Adam2178

Hello Adam. I am a fellow LGBTQ+ community member myself :D (its a pretty beautiful group to be a part of) I'm really sorry that you don't have anyone to share your true self with, that sounds really hard. I used to hate myself for not being straight and I grew up in a religion that told me I would go to hell and that I was an abomination. I was afraid if I talked about it to anyone, I would be sent away like my dad was (he is also not straight) and or loose everything in my life like my dad did. I have since came out of my past religion and am learning to embrace and love myself, just the way I am. I used to feel so guilty that I liked girls and was attracted to them. I used to pray that I would just be straight because I didn't want to go to hell. I didn't want to be damaged or dirty. I did loose some of my friends because I know how they would feel about me if I came out to them, but I also have since gained more true friends who I can be my true self around, without judgment. I hope you feel less alone, because so many other people have a story like yours. I hope your able to find people to share and connect with that will love you for the real you!

Hi Adam,

Fellow LGBTQ+ member here.

I too struggled with who I am, how others would perceive me, and what that would mean for my future.

I am so grateful that you have found a place to express yourself and feel comfortable. It feels impossible and overwhelming now, but please know that it will not feel shameful and "bad" forever. I married my wife last year, my family have come to terms with who I am and have learned to be supportive or to be quiet, and though my friendships did not all last- I feel the people in my life that support me, the true me, are better than any friendships I had before based on this false persona I wore as a mask.

Please know that you are a valid human. You are just who you are meant to be and it will not feel this way forever. I am proud of you for seeking support and I wish you nothing but happiness.
