How long to wait?
Hi, I'm Diane, and I'm new. I picked up three general requests this morning. The first I posted an intro and asked if they were new. No response.
The second I reported for sexual harrasment.
The third put forth an issue, I asked a question and gave the info provided in the suggestions. No response.
My question is: how long am I supposed to wait for them to respond? I don't want to cut them off, but I'm not planning to stay on the site all morning waiting to see if they may eventually respond.

@DianeinNM The same happened to me this morning.
After a minute or two I peek at the general request queue. If the member has rejoined the queue, it means they don't like you—possibly because they are hoping for some kind of pickup line. In that case I simply forget the chat and hide it from my chat list.
If their status goes to offline (red) then I invite them to message me another time, say goodbye, and forget the chat. Occasionally they come back after a while and the chat resumes.
If there's no message but they remain online, I send a couple of messages like "Are you still there?" and after 5 minutes or so I say goodbye and forget the chat. Very occasionally they do come back and chat.
Overall, this means a member only gets about 10 minutes of my time if they're not going to chat. But I don't block anyone, so they are always welcome to return and chat if they want.

Thank you for taking the time to answer this! I've definitely been experiencing this, so it's nice to get some guidance on how to handle the situation!
