I am giving this a shot
Hello there
I am new here and I have spent the last three hours reading posts from people who have to deal with problems that are way more severe than mine are. To be honest it made me feel guilty to waste peopel's time by writing about myself and it made me think that I should "just" figure out the problems I have on my own. But I can't. I tried. And I keep on doing so, but it just seems to not really work out.
In the last couple of years (I'm 24 years old) a few things went wrong and although it might sound strange, it feels like I forgot who I am. The happy, carefree confidence I used to have disappeared and I don't know who I am anymore. This already started after graduating highschool and got much worse after having an abortion in spring 2018. I am a student at university and I was absolutely sure that I did not want a child. It was definitly the right decision for me, no doubts there. But it still "broke" me even more in a way.
Sometimes I have problems with not getting up in the morning, which makes me hate myself a lot. For example I have a super interesting lecture I really want to attend and when the alarm rings I switch it off and stay in bed. I don't move, I just lay there until the whole day is over. In the evening I eventually get up and feel angry with myself as I just wasted a whole day. Usually this happens a couple days in a row (maybe a good day inbetween) and then it passes again to come back sometime in the next month.
I want to "find myself again" (I know it sounds so cheap and minor) I want to have this carefree positive attitude back that I used to have. I want to forgive myself for the things I did. And I want to be excited and not terrified of my future.
And I have no idea how to do any of that.
To whoever might have read this (thank you) and I am glad for any advice.
Have a beautiful day
Thesi
There is no need to have a competition for issues, so it's good you were able to post!
I would imagine having an abortion would be a bit isolating, even if you feel good about your decision, it's not something that most people discuss in a way to relate to one another. Maybe a bit of therapy would get you feeling more like your old self?
As for the bed thing, what about 2 alarms? Use your usual as you are, and then set up an alarm clock that goes of a little later not right by your bed. Sometimes just getting out of bed is enough of a hurdle to overcome to start doing other things.
