Hey guys! I am here because I struggle with extreme social anxiety. It has been fairly severe since I was 15. I am now 29 and so I clearly haven’t gotten over this. I have difficulties even leaving my apartment because I feel like people are judging me and looking at me and can see how uncomfortable and weak I am and judge me and for some reason it scares the hell out of me. I know this fear is irrational and it shouldn’t matter. But, this fear of mine just doesn’t leave even though rationally I realize that those people don’t matter anyways. I realize most people are not analyzing and critiquing me to the level I am in my own mind, because they have their own life and struggles too. Anyways, I would love to talk to people who can relate to this and also read other peoples stories and watch and read some support stuff on the issue. I am loving how open and encouraging people seem to be on this app. I cried after reading some of the posts and responses because I can relate to them so much and it’s like they are speaking my mind and it makes me feel like I am not alone in this. Anyways, that’s it, that’s all! Nice to meet you guys!!

Hey @rileyy333 , welcome to 7 cups ❤

Been dealing with social anxiety for a long time sounds so difficult, can understand despite knowing that other's opinions don't matter and most people don't even care , it's mostly just our own fears and thoughts that make us feel socially anxious , despite being aware ...it is still very challenging to overcome it , and your feelings are so valid ❤

We are allowed to feel and think they way we do , certain circumstances cause us to experience these feelings and so it is personal to you and thus very much okay to accept , and slowly try to overcome those that affect us negatively.

Makes me really happy to hear you're liking this app and finding the support needed , it's indeed a great feeling to know we ain't alone and there's definitely a way out , just gotta keep believing in ourselves and work on getting to a better tomorrow , one step at a time, you're reaching out for support and that's so very courageous also , keep going !🤗❤

I hear you're liking the resources , have you tried the self help guide available on 7 cups about social anxiety? Here ,if you'd like to take a look 😊

Hi there @Rileyy. When I read your post I feel like I can relate to everything you say. It is true that even though we realize that this fear is totally irrational, it is still so very hard to overcome it. I've been living with this diagnosis for more than 10 years already and somehow over the years I was lucky to find out what works for me, so I went from the point of not being able to go to a shop alone to being able to do almost everything. I've accepted that my social anxiety is always with me but I learnt to live with it to the point that it doesn't damage my life too much. Just do not give up. If you ever wanna talk about it - feel free to message me.
